How to Clean a Bathroom Scale

A bathroom scale is an essential tool for monitoring weight, body fat, and overall health. It’s important to keep the scale clean to ensure accurate readings and to prevent the spread of germs. In this article, we will discuss the best ways to clean your bathroom scale and keep it in tip-top shape.

Step 1: Check the Manufacturer’s Instructions

Before cleaning your bathroom scale, check the manufacturer’s instructions for specific cleaning recommendations. Some scales may have specific cleaning instructions or may not be compatible with certain cleaning products.

Step 2: Gather Supplies

To clean your bathroom scale, you will need:

  • A soft, clean cloth
  • Mild soap or detergent
  • Water
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton swabs

Step 3: Remove the Batteries

Before cleaning your bathroom scale, remove the batteries to prevent damage to the internal components.

Step 4: Wipe Down the Scale

Using a soft, clean cloth, wipe down the scale to remove any dust, dirt, or debris. Be sure to get into any crevices or corners where dirt may be hiding.

Step 5: Clean the Scale with Soap and Water

Mix a small amount of mild soap or detergent with warm water. Dip the cloth into the soapy water and wring it out until it is damp but not dripping. Gently wipe down the scale with the damp cloth, taking care not to get any water into the display or any other openings.

Step 6: Rinse the Scale

After cleaning the scale with soap and water, use a clean, damp cloth to rinse off any soap residue. Be sure to wring out the cloth thoroughly to avoid getting any excess water on the scale.

Step 7: Dry the Scale

Using a clean, dry cloth, wipe down the scale to remove any remaining moisture. Allow the scale to air dry completely before replacing the batteries.

Step 8: Disinfect the Scale

To disinfect the scale, use rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs. Dip the cotton swab into the rubbing alcohol and gently wipe down the surface of the scale, paying particular attention to any areas that may have come into contact with skin.

Step 9: Clean the Feet

If your bathroom scale has feet, be sure to clean them as well. Use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt or debris. You can also use a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol to disinfect the feet.

Step 10: Store the Scale Properly

To keep your bathroom scale in good condition, store it in a dry, cool place when not in use. Avoid storing it in a damp or humid environment, as this can cause damage to the internal components.
